Research on Silicon Design
The Industrial Excellence Center SoS (System Design on Silicon) at the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University (LTH) conducts research in cooperation with domestic and international companies.
Having developed from a nisch-market over the past decades, mobile communication now plays a major role in the overall modern communication industry. One extremely challenging part of such a system is the mobile terminal and the hardware platform on which it is built. The present situation calls for increasingly complex hardware platforms, as they are required to adapt to new types of multimedia content and be multi-purpose.
This includes the incorporation of a large number of wireless standards running on a single platform, e.g. 3G, WLAN, Digital TV and GPS. The focus of this center is to develop novel hardware architectures and circuit solutions for such a scenario.
Participation of industrial organizations such as Ericsson, ST-Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, Infineon and Cadence (associated partner) ensures significant industry relevance.
