The Industrial Excellence Center EASE Embedded Applications Software Engineering at The Faculty of Engineering at Lund University (LTH) and Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) carries out research aimed at satisfying the long-term needs of the industry.
The research focuses on technologies and methods required to develop future products and services in so-called embedded systems, e.g., mobile phones. The center will be the world-leader within its field of research.
Also a focused research area is the mobility of mobile systems - i.e., data as well as services can be moved in between different networks in order to more efficiently use available network resources. Particular focus will be on 1) how software for parallel processors should be coded, 2) how systems can be configured from different user perspectives, 3) ways of combining different system development methods, e.g., using open source code, and 4) effective means to verify that systems meet customer requirement.
The research is carried out in close cooperation with the industry and by researchers who are also active lecturers, making the research findings directly part of the course contents.
Industrial partners are Sony Ericsson, Ericsson, ABB, Axis and Softhouse Consulting.
